RFID-tag location system

rfidtracking.jpgWe're in danger of turning into an RFID blog if the news continues to feature nothing but stories of things and people being chipped. Latest: NEC has developed an employee location system using RFID tags that it will begin shipping from October. Chipped workers are tracked through the office, with information appearing to the viewer about whether they're at their desks, in a meeting, etc. It also offers different communications methods according to location: phone or chat if the person is at their desk, voice or email if they're away. The sensor information is processed by a piece of middleware called Wink@Ripple; someone obviously got the "name" and "password" fields mixed up again. A 50-user solution is expected to ship for about Y4 mn.
