Cellphone as ATM card
Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank is to start up a service that allows its customers to use their cellphone as a cashcard. It uses a Java app in which the customer registers whatever ATM transaction they wish to make; once at the ATM the transaction info is beamed to the ATM via infra-red, and entering a PIN number completes it. Should help cut down on those queues a bit. Oki Electric and NTT Communications provide the back end.
