New DDI Pocket handset; the phone as a peripheral?

DDI Pocket has an interesting prototype phone out--in a way, it's an elegant and inevitable solution to the fact that the company sells mostly mobile internet PHS cards rather than phones. What they've done is create a handset with a Compact Flash slot; so you stick your PHS card in to make phone calls and then switch it to your PDA to moblog (etc.). After a spell fumbling with cables and a FOMA phone the other week, this seems a rather cool idea. Hope it makes it into the shops at some point, though the prototype does look a touch basic at present.

Looks like DDI Pocket has a 256kbps card and wi-fi compatibility in the works, too.
