NTT's nanoglobe

Brief snippet from the morning news: NTT has developed a new electron beam lithography technology that allows etching onto a three-dimensional object, and have promptly used it to etch a map of the world onto a globe 60 micrometres in diameter.
More photos at the link below (we have yet to read the whole thing and hence work out the implications of being able to etch things very finely onto extremely small balls).
