KDDI's 3G launch hits a bump

Reuters wire and K-Tai Watch are reporting that KDDI has had to pull its only 3G handset, the W11H from Hitachi, from shelves due to minor bugs. About 7,200 units had been sold. One bug involves some BREW applications refusing to run if there are more than 6,000 user files (mail, photos, and so forth) stored in the phone--needless to say the company found this one, as the handset's only been out for a few days. The other occurs with mail containing user-created Japanese characters, sent from certain PC mail programs--the title of the mail is received by the phone, but not the body. Apparently there were 10 or so enquiries about this problem; all those who phoned in have been rounded up by the Geek Police.
The phone should be back on sale on December 8, but a tough start for KDDI. First impressions reports suggest that the service is a much better offering than DoCoMo's FOMA was at the outset, however.
